Curriculum vitae

Prof. Deml studied psychology and speech training at the University of Regensburg. She then completed her doctorate in engineering at the Institute of Ergonomics at the University of the German Armed Forces (UniBw) in Munich. In her dissertation, she dealt with the design of force-feedback human-machine interfaces in the field of telerobotics. After conducting research at the Technical University of Munich and Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, she returned to the UniBw. There she was offered a junior professorship in cognitive ergonomics and then accepted an appointment at Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg to head the Chair of Ergonomics and Work Design. In 2012, Ms. Deml declined a call to the University of Ulm and this year accepted a call to the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). Since then, she has headed the Institute of Ergonomics and Work Organization at KIT.
