
Analysis of the influence of additional text displays in the area of route guidance systems

For some time now, there has been a desire to display additional text content on highways via so-called route guidance systems. Against this background, a study was carried out in a driving simulator. The displays in question were presented to 60 commuters, frequent drivers and non-German-speaking drivers and the extent to which the content was understood and whether it might have a negative impact on driving behavior was investigated. Overall, these additional lines of text could not be recommended from a perceptual psychology perspective.
