The aim of the project is to develop a demonstrator factory for the remanufacturing of electric motors from the automotive industry in an interdisciplinary group of researchers from the fields of mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, information technology and computer science. The electric motors are to be dismantled in an agile and automated process and prepared for reuse. The agile production system learns to adapt to changing product specifications using mobile, learning robots, multi-sensor technology and artificial intelligence (AI). The collected data enables driverless transport systems to supply the modular production stations with the necessary flow of goods and collaborative, mobile and autonomous robots to adapt their action strategy. The special algorithms also support learning from the movements and gaze of the people with whom the industrial robots collaborate.
The research focus of the ifab lies in the investigation of human-robot collaboration. By recording eye movements and using the method of observational learning, human expert knowledge is to be externalized, analysed and implemented in a didactic concept in order to transfer it to a human-robot system. The project investigates the question of how externalized human knowledge can be used to solve challenging problems in the disassembly of components with changing product specifications and how it can contribute to adapting the action strategy of collaborating, mobile and autonomous robots.
