VDU work in control rooms is potentially stressful for operators due to complex monitoring and control tasks. The aim of the research project is to identify the stress factors associated with different display options for video recordings in control rooms, to record and classify the resulting stresses for operators and finally to derive design recommendations for the optimal display of videos and images in control rooms. In a laboratory experiment in the NEST (Network Enabled Surveillance and Tracking) system of the Fraunhofer IOSB, the effects of specific visual image processing and video displays on the task perception of operators will be investigated and specific displays will be evaluated under different conditions in subsequent field studies with practical partners (AVG Albtal-Verkehrs-Gesellschaft mbH, Stadtwerke Eschwege GmbH, AREVA GmbH, b.i.g. Sicherheitstechnik und Logistik GmbH, ESU control GmbH).
